Governance and transparency

The rules studiodelsorbo S.r.l. has set itself for accepting, performing and closing a professional engagement.

Working in trade finance means dealing with issuing and confirming banks, foreign counterparties, customs authorities and different jurisdictions. Those who engage us – and those who, on the other side of a transaction, have to assess us – are entitled to know in advance the limits within which we operate: what principles guide our judgement, which transactions we decline, how we handle a conflict of interest.

That is why the Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct is published in full, stating its edition, date of approval and next scheduled review.

Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct

Edition 2.0 · September 2026 · Next review: September 2027

  • Integrity, independence of judgement and confidentiality
  • Professional competence and continuing development
  • Management of conflicts of interest
  • Anti-money laundering and countering terrorist financing
  • Anti-bribery, gifts and facilitation payments
  • International sanctions and export controls
  • Relations with clients, banks and public authorities

The other governance documents

The Code of Ethics does not stand alone: it refers to formalised procedures governing in detail the acceptance and performance of engagements. These documents are provided to the client at the outset of the relationship and are made available, on request, to banks and counterparties having a legitimate interest.

  • KYC / AML Policy — customer due diligence, screening against UN, EU and OFAC lists and the UK Sanctions List, risk rating criteria, enhanced measures and grounds for refusal.
  • Service Charter — stages of the engagement, ICC standards applied (UCP 600, ISBP 821, URDG 758, URC 522, ISP98), deadline management, quality control of deliverables and complaints handling.
  • Engagement Letter — standard form of engagement letter: scope of services, excluded activities, fees, confidentiality, limitation of liability and jurisdiction.
